    A. FLEMING, 45, A LOVER OF BOOKS AND PEOPLE
Source: Connie Langland, INQUIRER STAFF WRITER Alan Jiminez Fleming, a librarian by training and a community molder by nature, loved nothing better than teaching children how to make a vejigante, a bogeyman mask that is a parade tradition in Puerto Rico.
So mask-making workshops became a hallmark of his tenure as head of the Lehigh Avenue branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia.
Mr. Fleming, 45, of Center City, died Sunday of AIDS-related complications at Hahnemann University Hospital, according to his sister, Sara Fleming, ofPublished on 1995-01-03, Page B06, Philadelphia Inquirer, The (PA)

ALAN FLEMINGSource: Gloria Campisi, Daily News Staff Writer Alan Fleming never viewed as a "negative" the dilapidated, graffiti- scarred building where he worked at 6th Street and Lehigh Avenue.
Instead, Fleming, a fluent Spanish-speaker, saw the Lehigh branch of the Free Library in a predominantly Latino Fairhill section as "a place for him to do a lot of good work," said his supervisor, Carolyn Hale.
